Managing Breast Fibroadenoma
Fibroadenomas
are common non-cancerous breast lumps composed of glandular and fibrous tissue
but they are not common in postmenopausal women.
Occurrence of fibroadenoma over age 50 may escalate concerns. While typically
benign, the risk of breast cancer increases with age. Sometimes, breast cancer
looks like fibroadenoma in imaging.
This induces fear, anxiety in the patient
and the family.
In post-menopausal women who is in BIRADS 3 Stage, imaging every 6 months is suggested
to track any untoward changes.
